Metallurgy

Caustic soda is used in the treatment of bauxite, from which alumina, the basis of aluminium, is extracted.

Due to improvements in technology (in the automotive, packaging and building industry sectors, etc.) aluminium is now the second largest metal used in the world.

This prodigious rise has led to a large increase in caustic soda consumption in this segment.

In the stage of surface treatment of aluminium finished products, caustic soda is used for pickling.
Caustic soda also plays an important role in the recycling of tin recovered from tin plate.
